Welcome to Three Mountains Wellness

If you're looking for new levels of health in body, mind and spirit, Three Mountains Wellness is here to help. Acupuncture and oriental medicine are powerful tools that are helping people live better today, just as they have for thousands of years. Families, Olympic athletes, and senior citizens are all turning to this wonderful system of medicine to improve their lives and they're getting results.

Some patients come to Three Mountains Wellness because they prefer a natural approach to healing that works with their body and some just like acupuncture because it's effective. Others are here because they've been struggling with pain or disease, often for years, and they've exhausted all other options. If that's you, don't give up - give acupuncture and oriental medicine a try. Sometimes when facing a difficult problem, looking at it from a different perspective can yield new insights and new ways of addressing the issue. And research shows that acupuncture is an effective treatment modality for a vast array of health conditions.

Health, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Wellness, on the other hand, is not a state of being but is an active process of being, the process of becoming and the process by which we achieve our maximum potential that is feasible at any given point in our lives. Would you like to be healthy according to the World Health Organization's definition?  At Three Mountains Wellness, you'll find that your needs are truly listened to and used as the foundation for a personalized program that can help you make strides toward reaching your maximum potential for true health.

Fast-Track Your Health with Acupressure

Traditional Chinese Medicine has helped people for thousands of years and offers a proven, comprehensive approach for stimulating the body's natural healing processes. The most well known of the great pillars of oriental medicine is acupuncture - the insertion of tiny needles at special points on the body which directly signal the body to re-balance the central nervous system and resolve health issues. Modern researchers have been studying acupuncture for decades and have found that it lives up to it's traditional reputation for effective healing. At Three Mountains Wellness, hundreds of patients have benefited from the blend of traditional wisdom and modern research and found help for their health challenges with acupuncture and the related practice of acupressure.

Acupressure stimulates the same points used in acupuncture, but instead of needles, you use the pressure and qi of your own hands to activate the points. I have found that patients can learn simple acupressure techniques fairly quickly and I encourage everyone to try because acupressure has several advantages over acupuncture. Acupuncture, like most medical procedures, is something that is done to you. You come in, get needles, fall asleep and wake up feeling like a new person, ready to go on about your life. It's a great way to solve health issues. But you haven't learned anything about how your body works or how to control it. You are relying on the skills of your acupuncturist to do that for you. Acupressure, on the other hand, is a skill that you develop and once you have it, you can use it to help yourself any time.

I believe that it's worth the time to learn acupressure. You don't have to study for years to benefit from acupressure, but if you enjoy the practice you may find yourself on a lifelong journey. Start with one technique and apply it to a couple of points suggested by your acupuncturist. Do this every day between office visits. Acupressure is similar to biofeedback but it targets your unique health issues. Over time, with practice, you will find that you start to develop a sense of how your body works, and you'll be able to head off problems while they are still small. It will also make your acupuncture visits more effective if you keep your qi flowing well by doing acupressure every day. That way the qi of the needles can go right to the deeper energetic levels that are often the source of health problems instead of clearing surface obstructions for most of your visit.

I've created an Acupressure Log Book that will help you develop your sense of what's happening in your body, fast-track your skills and and help you change your health for the better. I think there's no better way to track your progress than writing down your struggles and successes. It helps keep you focused and provides a record of the acupressure points and techniques that work best for you in every situation. And you can reference it at any time. As you fill in the pages, this book will become the personal reference guide to you - your best points, your best techniques, and your progress. Most importantly, it provides a record of your ever increasing understanding and control over the inner workings of your body.
